 Good afternoon everyone, Here are some updates, due dates and announcements for our homeroom:   1. We will have a Math unit test on Friday, March 5. We will spend the time reviewing fractions and decimal numbers next week to make sure we are prepared. At home, I suggest that students practice by using the supplementary activities posted in Google Classroom. 2. The francophone week will be from March 8-11. Many activities are planned during the week. The food truck is on Monday, March 8. Please pack some snacks just in case something go wrong with the food truck... 3. If you have some cardboard boxes at home, I would love to have some. The students will need them for our upcoming Science inquiry project. We are looking for boxes bigger than a shoe box, but not as big as a Costco size box. Thanks in advance! 4. The spelling bee competition will be on March 9 (optional).  Bonjour, It was another great week in grade 5! ELA: We are finishing writing our short story. The students who are not able to finish writing their good copy in class by the end of Monday will take it home to be completed as homework. Math: We are continuing to learn about decimal numbers and fractions. Supplementary activities have been posted in Google Classroom for students who would like extra practice.  FLA: Our book study is going well. One more week of work and we will finally be ready to start preparing our presentations. Social Studies: We have learned about Louis Riel and his contribution to the preservation of the Metis people rights and culture in Canada. The students have chosen one person who fought for a cause and will research what their person did to help make the world a better place. We will end this project by comparing the life and contributions of Louis Riel with the life of their person of choice. Science: Our study of electricity is going well and I see a lot o

 Good afternoon, 1) We are working on a book study in FLA. Students need to finish reading their book no later than February 16. Moreover, the book needs to travel to and from home everyday, as we are using it in class. The reading part is done exclusively at home. 2) This project will be done on a tri-fold. The small size is available at Dollarama for $2. For students that choose not to purchase one, they will be able to complete the project on paper folders. I will provide them for the students. 3) Our francophone week will be help from March 8-11. Many activities will be offered to students to celebrate the French language and culture. On March 8, a food truck will be offering beaver tails ($7), poutine ($5) and soft drinks ($1). Students who would like to purchase one or many items are asked to bring the money directly to me no later than February 17th. 4) Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately for the weather.
