 Announcements:

-Students that are isolating at home are expected to complete the work posted in Google Classroom. If they don't, they will fall behind and it will be difficult to get caught up.

-Ms. Fitz will come visit our class for our book exchange on Monday. If you would like to borrow new books, be sure to complete the form on Google Classroom this weekend.

-Physical Education will be help outside this year as we are trying to avoid big groups of students in the gym. Please make sure you send your child to school with their full snow suit, boots, mittens and toque in order to keep them safe and warm.

-There will be a quiz in Social Studies on Monday. We have practiced and studied in class, but students were expected to bring their materials home to study. I will also have a little evaluation early next week to see where student are at with the multiplication and division concepts learned so far.

-Students should read at home for a minimum of 15 minutes daily. I would encourage them to alternate between French and English books. Reading daily helps improve reading skills, boosts vocabulary and literacy skills and improves writing skills.

- This week, students need to practice their  multiplication tables of 6, 7, 8 at home. They should also learn the corresponding divisions at the same time. Ex: 5x8=40,  8x5=40,  40/5=8,  40/8=5. Please check Google Classroom for a document to help support your child in the section Supplementary Activities. This document includes strategies to memorize basic x facts, flash cards and exercises.

-Google Classroom is now updated daily as there are more students absent and for longer periods of time. In order to not fall behind, students are responsible for completing all assignments (to the best of their abilities in these circumstances) and submit them to me when they return to school.

-For daily announcements and homework, please check your child's agenda.

Bonjour, It was another great week in grade 5! ELA: We are finishing writing our short story. The students who are not able to finish writing their good copy in class by the end of Monday will take it home to be completed as homework. Math: We are continuing to learn about decimal numbers and fractions. Supplementary activities have been posted in Google Classroom for students who would like extra practice.  FLA: Our book study is going well. One more week of work and we will finally be ready to start preparing our presentations. Social Studies: We have learned about Louis Riel and his contribution to the preservation of the Metis people rights and culture in Canada. The students have chosen one person who fought for a cause and will research what their person did to help make the world a better place. We will end this project by comparing the life and contributions of Louis Riel with the life of their person of choice. Science: Our study of electricity is going well and I se...
